The inspiration for Dust began with the opening chord and vibe of Bowie's Big Brother. I was so taken by his mix of major and minor chord progressions on Big Brother and We Are the Dead. I started to blend the chords of both songs and with the help of the band created a Bowie tribute song. The title Dust is taken from the first line of Big Brother, "Don't talk of Dust and Roses". Such an honor to have experienced Bowie in real time when I was a kid. His music opened my eyes to diversity and always kept me searching for and appreciating all things outside of the lines.
